July - August, 2024 | Boulder, Denver, and Gunnison

The Democracy Cycle is a project led by Local Theater Company in partnership with Gunnison Theatre Festival and Curious Theatre Company. The Democracy Cycle centers storytelling to promote civic engagement around the Colorado rural-urban divide. Utilizing story circles, trained facilitator/artists, playwrights, and a music director/composer, the project promotes engagement in complicated civic dialogue to result in action-based change. We’ll be inviting you to step into the new play development process and create new work exploring the questions that are most important to you today.

237 VIRGINIA AVENUE
Written by David Myers

When Eric, an overeducated and underemployed professor, begins researching the history of his father Rex’s property in Virginia, he thinks he’s going to write a horror story.  What emerges is something far more profitable. In 237 VIRGINIA AVENUE, two actors portray ten characters tumbling through 400 years of American history in this darkly comedic new play that asks, what are you willing to sacrifice for the American Dream?
