SYNOPSIS
Angler Light is a comedy/drama about a salmon with a broken tail who needs to migrate back to his natal stream in Canada so he can fulfill his destiny. The only person he can find to help him is a suicidal teenager who is pretty sure destiny doesn't exist.

Steven San Luis
Playwright
Steven San Luis (he/him) is a queer writer from southern Georgia who studied at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University. His short plays have been produced in festivals by Boxfest Detroit, Hand to Mouth Players, the North Park Playwrights Festival, and The Road Theatre. Steven has been published in the 2020 Stage It! book and he is the inaugural winner of Avalonia 7's Best Comedic One Act award. He also worked on Local Theater Company's productions of Faith, Firestorm, and The Rape of the Sabine Women, by Grace B. Matthias.

Cole Alvis is a 2 Spirit Michif (Métis) artist based in Tkarón:to with Chippewa, Irish & English ancestors from Turtle Mountain. She is one of the leaders of lemonTree creations, manidoons collective, AdHoc Assembly and is on the board of the Dancers Of Damelahamid. Recently, Cole performed in Louis Riel (Canadian Opera Company & National Arts Centre) and directed the Dora-nominated bug by Yolanda Bonnell (manidoons collective & Luminato), Lilies by Michel Marc Bouchard (lemonTree creations, Why Not Theatre & Buddies in Bad Times Theatre) and, alongside fellow Dora-nominated Michael Greyeyes, co-directed an Indigenous opera double bill called Two Odysseys: Pimooteewin / Gállábártnit (Signal Theatre, National Sami Theatre Beaivváš & Soundstreams). This spring, Cole is calling on the women in her matriarchal line to remember together their Michif ancestors.

Actor, storyteller, and activist, Cherish Violet Blood is a proud Blackfoot woman whom hails from the Kainai Nation, or Blood Tribe Reserve #148 in Treaty 7 territory located in southern Alberta. Currently residing in Toronto, Ontario, Cherish is a professionally trained and well recognized performing artist with active followings in the national Indigenous and international theatre communities. Cherish has performed all over North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Scotland. Select credits include creator/performer in Material Witness (Spiderwoman Theatre La Mama, NYC), creator/performer in Making Treaty 7 directed by Michelle Thrush in Calgary, AB. And most recently, the lead role in Deer Woman, a new play that has been touring internationally by Tara Beagan ARTICLE11  . As a natural comedian Cherish has hosted many album release parties for artists such as Iskwe, LAL, and Fiver, as well as for community events and numerous fundraisers.

LORENZO GONZALEZ Has been a participant of many a LOCAL Lab. Most recent credits include the title role in Interview with a Mexican with Su Teatro in Denver; Pompey in Measure for Measure & Sir Thurio in Two Gentleman of Verona with The Independent Shakespeare Co. in Los Angeles. Other theaters include The RED CAT and The Ahmanson in LA, San Jose Repertory, Seattle Repertory, Arizona Theatre Company, six seasons with The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, El Teatro Campesino, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, and a member of The Actor’s Gang. Lorenzo is chair the MFA in Theater: Contemporary Performance at Naropa University. His MFA is from PTTP at the University of Delaware.

Paul Morland was born in Colombia and raised in Denver. Paul made his Broadway debut in the revival of West Side Story and played The Fiddler in the First National Tour of Fiddler on the Roof. He has danced in world premieres with Rashaun + Silas, Madboots Dance, Gallim, and CompanySBB. Paul was featured in Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” (2019). He performed in and co-choreographed “Rare Changes” [Official Video] for grammy-nominated artist Mayer Hawthorne. Paul has a BFA from NYU Tisch. He has taught movement classes around the world and teaches yoga in Denver.

Ryan Matthieu Smith is an award winning Director, Designer, and Performer working in film, theater, drag, and circus. Ryan is the Production Designer and the Costume Designer for the Hurricane Bianca films starring Bianca Del Rio, Rachel Dratch, Alan Cumming, Cheyenne Jackson, and Rupaul. As an Indigenous Two-Spirit artist, Ryan is very excited to bring his passion for Queer Art to this new work.

Mare Trevathan spends way too much time these days in a converted closet in her Longmont home, where she records audiobooks (over 700 so far) and teaches Voice Acting (online) for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. She is the co-developer of LADY M PROJECT (Local Lab 20/21) and co-developer of LIMINAL (Off-Center feasibility study 2021). With collaborator Shubhra Raje, Mare runs REFRESH, a program training architects using site-specific theater. She is a member of the IDEA Stages leadership team (helping Colorado theaters become more inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible) and is a founding member of Local Theater Company. Lynde Rosario is a Dramaturg working with Local Theater Co. for the first time this year as an Associate Artist. She is also the Literary Manager for the DCPA Theatre Company. Other artistic affiliations include: Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company, Curious Theatre Company, Athena Project, The Catamounts, Theatre Artibus, Local Theater Company, Creede Repertory Theater, Letter of Marque Theatre Company, and The Anthropologists. She is a Board Member and VP of Regional Activity for The Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas, and a Board Member for the National New Play Network.
